Sr\Lead Windows Mobile Engineer PayPal

Job Location: San Jose, CA

The Windows Engineering Lead will be responsible for delivering the platform elements of our Windows mobile stack that encompass a variety of features such logging, analytics, software update, access to cloud services and integration with an array of point-of-sale related peripherals. The primary deliverables will be middleware and frameworks for use by our application developers that enables them to rapidly develop robust user experiences.



Responsibilities:


  • Design and implement Windows middleware and frameworks in a combination of C++/C#. Partner closely with application developers to ensure the components are robust and meet application needs.

  • Instill agile processes that incorporate peripheral (e.g. hardware) certification into a continuous integration environment. Partner with hardware teams on certification of peripherals.

  • Participate in responding to customer incidents, beginning with triage, providing fixes and follow on support if necessary. Actively enhance the software to improve support and operations.

  • Interface to a variety of technical teams in the company to integrate our applications into the PayPal ecosystem. Specific examples include operations and customer support teams as well as analytics.



Job Requirements

Requirements:


  • 8-10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering.

  • Strong OS/system level understanding of Windows stack. This includes a deep understanding of networking, concurrent programming/multithreading, power management and memory management.

  • 5+ years hands on C++/C# experience, with 2 years in a mobile or embedded environment.

  • Expert knowledge of Windows APIs and SDKs including common frameworks and libraries. Must have developed non-trivial Windows middleware framework and related APIs.

  • Experience in architecting and developing complex applications. Well versed in object oriented design and common design patterns.

  • Experience leading a small team of passionate software engineers.

  • Experience with development best practices including agile processes, testing methodologies (white-box, black-box, unit, integration), continuous integration as well as mobile specific testing approaches and tools.

  • Experience supporting multiple product versions simultaneously.

  • Experience with a consumer electronics platform is a plus.

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
